darrimc30 you're a light guy the main problem with the DHXa for most with the walking beam style system and this leverage ratio rider weight played a significant part or so it seemed!
Its interesting aftermarket companies don't want to get into doing the usual upgrades like they do with the coils or the RP3s or RP23s!
That said if I remember correctly most people who hated this shock on the RFX or Spot were over 80kg!
So that being your under 80kg and if you're prepared to play around, which you really need to do, I suggest this, get a note book, an allen key that fits you're volume adjuster on the boost chamber, fox air pump!
Find a trail on your own you know well, that has drops some jumps successive hits, roots, low speed bumps that will test plushness for initial compliance and spend the day setting up, you will learn more than anyone can give you trust me! Make small adjustments, write them down, re ride trail not effect do again!
Sounds like a chore but its fun!
Get a timing system, if you want to spend some money this will have the biggest outcome on fun ever and turn a old bring trail into a competition with ya self and help ya know if ya have everything tuned right and also help
with ya skills
I'm much heavier than you but Ive run the shock and kept it on my bike mainly because I couldn't decide what to do I didn't really want to spend the money on bling because i was riding my RFX more often than not and the Spot was doing Endurance duties and some 12hr racing now and again, sounds even more reason to get an RP23 but the cost vs weight for me wasn't enough, it didn't make a big enough difference for me, tires make a bigger difference!
Plus I tend to ride with a higher compression setup so I don't blow through the travel I give up the plushness but that's my style of ride anyway I try to jump over stuff than plow through it if I can! I also run quite slow rebound in the rear, but fast enough the air can will come back to full travel on its own and not pack up, but still slow by most standards, this way I don't get kicked!
I'd stick with it, JMO, the RP3 or 23 is easier to setup, but the DHXa can be done if ya have patience and I'm sure it will work well at your weight.
