I placed an order with www.grassrootsbikes.com for a Monocog and Monocog Flight. This will be my first time assembling any bike. I have the time and would like to attempt this feat myself. Will I be able to purchase the tools I need from a LBS here in Tampa or should I take a list of tools that I need to Home Depot?
What tools do I need?
Any links that offer advice or a walk through would be great.
check out the tool kits from Nashbar, Performance etc. They have a lot of specialized tools that would cost a fortune purchased individually. Not the best quality, but you won't be using them every day.
The chainbreaker that came with my kit was crap, so I use the one on my Crank Bros multitool. You should carry a good multitool on your rides anyway.
Cable cutters are nice to have too, but a Dremel works pretty well.
You'll also want a stand, you can make one from PVC pipe or find one on line.
