Anyone happen to know what size front derailleur clamp an '08 GF Marlin needs? Or just a good way to measure it without a caliper or other tools I don't have?
Use three rulers and hold them in a U form. The marks on the ruler you use as base will allow you to keep them all pretty perpendicular.
Shimano sells 28.6/31.8/34.9mm seat tube bands. So it is not required to get the exact measurement. All you need to find out is which of the above you need.
Also check the cable routing. You need to find out if you need a top-pull or a bottom-pull configuration.
Yeah, that's the way my current FD is, but I want to try to score an older one for cheap.
