i normally ride uk trail centres and cross country but its a new bike and my old wheels not sure if they are gonna get more hammer now on a bigger travel bike
they were fine on the anthem i used to have but i guess im gonna hit things faster and harder on the five spot
that said will the extra bounce take more of the impact than my anthem did
I'm 165lbs and they were quite dented after a year on my flux. Still ridable, but dented up pretty good. I wouldn't recommend them unless they are part of a dedicated racing wheelset. I'm running DT 4.2d's now and those seem much stronger yet are still super light.
A cushy bike with light, ripping fast wheels and tires is a rare combo. I think it can work great for xc. Really gets the smooth flow going.
Also, I think there is some real value in doing a nearly straight parts swap when you switch bikes. That way you'll really know what the Spot is offering you over the Anthem, not how the new and different wheels are stirring the pot.
Keep them. You'll know when and if you start over riding them, and then you can pick up a set of sturdier wheels on sale somewhere.
theyll work fine but only if ya use a sid, revo spokes on ti hubs, beebop pedals and vee brakes.
seriously, the 1st time ya ride the spot like a spot, those beauties are gonna lose about 99% of their value. sell em to a xc geek and build some proper wheels. we know of several folks who can help ya out at a more than reasonable price with almost any spec ya like.
