I thought this would be the appropriate forum to post this in. I bought a set of Oury clamp on grips and I can't for the life of me figure out how they install. The part I'm confused about are the endpieces and the screw piece that's inside them. How does this work? Also it has 4 clamps, where do all four clamps go? I know where two go but not sure about the other two.
The clamps I ordered look like they had been returned so there is no paperwork with it, also one of the clamps was missing out of the package.
If you have the ODI clamps for your Oury grips, sounds like you do, one clamp goes at each end of each grip, so not sure why you don't see how that works. You use a very small allen key (2 or 2.5mm from memory) to tighten the clamps to the bars, it's pretty simple. Sounds like you may have the end plugs with the expansion screw assembly to hold it in place in the end of your bars, personally I just don't bother with those, they don't work very well for me.
Okay I see how the clamps go on the tabs on each end just not 100% sure about the end plugs. I assume you just screw it in til the thing expands enough to fit tightly?
You got it. I don't use those expanding bar end plugs because I still tend to pull them off while riding no matter how hard I screw 'em in (plus they're a pain to remove and reinstall if I'm rearranging shifters/levers). Rather, I position the clamp at the end of the bar just so that there is no sharp end of the bar to puncture my body.
When I briefly looked at the ODI site for an instruction sheet I noticed they've now got a new bar end cap, some sort of snap on deal. Another option, if you really want plugs, is to just buy some simple plug types like these http://aebike.com/page.cfm?action=details&PageID=30&SKU=HT4313. One trick to installing the ODI clamps on the bar if you get a little play in the grip is to loosen one clamp and twist slightly then retightening the clamp...
