After that crash I had I noticed a crack about an inch long where the headtube is welded on to the top tube. Its right at the weld. Its very thin. I dont have money for a new frame. I know it will still be weak but should I get that part welded?
Update: I found more cracks at the shock mount on both sides on the triangle not the swingarm. Here are some pics. I called santa cruz they want $200
a riding partner had that happen to his bike..2 identical cracks across the headtube, a little different..it ended up cracking the weld next to the frame when he tried to ride with us, i think it is being warrantied though
Santa Cruz has great customer service!!!
Call up SC and ask for Willy. He should be able to help you out.
I did a crash replacement on my 03 Bullit front triangle over the winter.
I sent them my old one and they sent me a new 05 front triangle.(it bolts right up to the 02-03 swingarm)
It cost $200 plus shipping.
Your right Will. Come to think of it the last time I sent a swingarm back (my old Bullit) they just replaced it for a minor fee. I imagine that a repair would be too much of a liability.
the paint will only crack if the frame is doing so too...
