I thought I would put this on the DH forum. I have no idea how many folks are within driving distance of Rapid City SD, but if you are I hope you can help out.
After 2 1/2 years of persistence, ten thousand dollars in donated engineer costs, 450+ volunteer hours, 2 commercial dumpsters of trash, dozens of truckloads of dead trees/debris, and $5k in design costs, Rapid City SD will have an official dirt jump park-with dirt jumps for beginners on up to professionals of all ages (did I mention log rides and TWO pump tracks). Brought forward by local cyclists, funded with donated machinery, labor, cash, and the enthusiasm of riders of all ages and abilities. Thank you everyone, and the City of Rapid City Parks and Recreation Department for your continued support.
Designer/builder Ben Blitch will arrive and be at the area friday May 9 after 4pm to meet volunteers, tighten the game plan. Dirt will start moving Saturday May 10 around noon. Pump tracks will be constructed so volunteers will have something to play on while constructing jumps. Designer/builder/professional rider Jeff Lenosky will arrive May 19th in the afternoon and begin constructing the expert/pro dirt jump lines. Ribbon cutting ceremony, dirt demo by Jeff Lenosky will be on the afternoon of May 23rd. This is also the start of the Black Hills Fat Tire Festival (www.bhfattirefestival.com). It will be amazing to see what can be completed with a Cat 315 Excavator, 3 skid steer loaders, DW sk 500, and many shovels over 13 days!
We need volunteers in a big way! Most days will start at 10am and be done about 7pm (stop in after work). Please bring eye protection, ear plugs, gloves, and a hand tool if you have one-if not don't worry (round point shovel/flat shovel/hard rake/wheel barrow).
Check out the attached work schedule:

Also-from Collective Films, "Seasons" will be showing at the Elks Theatre on May 24th during the Black Hills Fat Tire Festival. Half the proceeds go towards construction costs (we are about $5k short for construction costs-contact me if you are interested in donating funds)
Thank you
