Well, I finally made the move from Illinois to East Africa. Very interesting.
But I miss biking so much. Does anyone have any tips on routes in Tanzania, or other riders here? Im located in Dar es Salaam now.
TIA

most of the roads in Dar are like MTB trails in the rest of the world. you can just ride from the slipway to the casino and back a few times an you've got your off road riding in :)

If you go to the north, there are some challenging routes through Maasailand, but go with someone who knows the area. There were some local mtb organisers last time i was in Arusha, catering for backpackers. I was interested in a route up to Lake Natron. Definitely take your own bike cos the ones for hire were clunkers.

Pemba Island is said to be great for cycling around. Zanzibar would also be good but watch the dala-dalas.

A former colleague of mine spent 6 months doing a cycle tour of the region, it was hard work physically and mentally but a great experience.
