I just put a Totem on my Vp free and put on a wheel with a older Hope Bulb and the Maxel is tight but it seems to have a little play. When this wheel is on my Z1 it is tight . What gives ?
I have a little play with one my hubs that isn't quite the proper width.
Once the maxle is threaded in but before you close the lever, squeeze the fork legs together against the hub and then close the Maxle.
If you have a LOT of slop (1mm?), this could be bad for your lowers, but if it's just a hint of movement, it doesn't cause a problem and it gets rid of the play.
Closing the Maxle is supposed to pull those legs together and clamp down on the hub anyways... maybe it needs to be helped a long a bit more... seeing as how it is stiffer than my Pike and all.
Double check your hub bearings. I had the same problem when I went from a Z1 to a Sherman Slider on my previous bike. There really isn't a whole lot of play, but you can "wiggle" the wheel side to side in a very miniscule manner, right?
Double check EVERYTHING. I freaked out with a problem with my new build, but it was my own stupidity that made the mistake.
