For any of you out there with experience or who are " in the know" I was just wondering if the '07 Big Hit 3 would hold up as a good race bike?.
I just got the pic off of the specialized web-site and it says its a Big Hit 3.phib1134 said:thats a big hit 2 but yah it would be a good race rig

I just got my 175mm Saints with E13 and a 42 tooth ring in the mail.DHidiot said:Nate,
The BigHit would be pretty solid for you with that build. I'd just ditch those cranks first thing. If you wanted to get it really "race-y" maybe keep another shock around that's 1/4" shorter.
Hit me up this week. While you're ordering stuff at the shop get yourself some night-lights - SB at night rawks!
42t eh? Guess you're looking for a workout. 36-38 is a good range for the SB stuff. I MAY have one sitting around. If you just get a good handlebar light you'll be golden. Also lemme know if you need help setting up the cranks and CG - if you guys are a roadie shop you might not have all the stuff for them.n8whitie said:I just got my 175mm Saints with E13 and a 42 tooth ring in the mail.
I'll look into the shock. We have some sweet niterider lights in the shop right now.
Let me figure out my week and we'll go on a ride. I'll just ride my junker. I start physical therapy this week I think so we'll see what happens.
We just deal with alot of rodie and tri stuff as well as XC and FR/DH stuff but we have every tool for every bike so it works out good for the few of us that do like the DH/FR scene. I was thinking 38 might be better but one of the guys that races there said that he spun out on his 38 so he got a 42 and it works pretty good, I'm just going to try it out and if it sucks then I'll change it.DHidiot said:42t eh? Where did he manage to spin out a 38t in SB? There is only one spot on Knapps I could see that happening and you would get yourself in some major trouble doing that with the guardrail and off camber 180 at the end of that straightaway....n8whitie said:We just deal with alot of rodie and tri stuff as well as XC and FR/DH stuff but we have every tool for every bike so it works out good for the few of us that do like the DH/FR scene. He said it was at one of the Fontana races... and it could have been a 36 but he did jump up to a 42 and 36 to 42 is a good jump. I dont have much race knowledge or experience so for now I just have to ask around..... but thats all going to change this season.DHidiot said:Where did he manage to spin out a 38t in SB?
