Who here has a Jet HID light? I have one of their halogen lights now and was thinking about upgrading to the HID lamp. They use the same battery so it would be cheaper than buying another HID system.
I have the Jet Blast HID helmet mount and love it. It is my first light so cant compare, but I can tell you I can ride as fast as day on the same tech track. It is lite on the helmet and very adjustable. I have yet to run out of juice.
I was between trails on a road once and mistakenly pointed the light directly at some people on the road hanging out. The light almost blinded them. They were pissed and it almost ended up a fight. This thing is bright!
I'm riding tech sections with this light that my buddies with hylogens won't even think of.
Get it before the prices go back up. Universal cycles.com gives a discount at check out.
I recently sold mine (nothing wrong with the light, I just wanted easy vacation cash). It was awesome, and IMO, better than the ARC I had before. Super bright, and lights up reflective signs for as far as you can see, which can be handy.
I have a jet light now just not the HID one. I contacted Jet and they said i could use the same battery with the HID lamp. Glad to know I would not have to buy the whole thing.
The arc seemed to have a solid body but shoddy lens cap. My first one was broken there, and my second just didnt seem to be that well made either. It had a nice weight to it, but I just wasn't impressed with the ruggedness.
The jet was more plasticy, but it was a hard plastic, and the bulb end of the unit felt better constructed. I also preferred the beam pattern. Overall it just feels like a better product, to me at least. Customer support from jet was also better from my experience. You may want to compare them side by side. A couple days ago universalcycles had them $325 ish.
I bought a Jet Lites Phantom helmet mount light (20W) at first and was very happy with it. Excellent brightness and beam pattern. I just had the urge to go HID so I exchanged it for the Jet Lites Blast HID helmet mount light. As good as the halogen light was, the HID was just spectacular. One of the guys I ride with has a NiteRider HID and the Blast HID is much brighter, projects farther down the trail and the battery lasts longer too. Jet Lites customer service is also excellent. The velcro mounting strap snapped so I emailed them. They immediately sent me a new one which arrived in a few days. Needless to say I feel 100% confident that I made the right choice. to Jet Lites
