Look at these MotionBased activities. Are we seeing GPS glitches with those speeds or are people really doing these speeds? Note, MB is supposedly doing corrections for both activities.
if you look at the speed versus distance graphs, I think you'll see your answer. the first track is for a nearly flat ride, there's a single spike corresponding to the 64.7 recorded speed, which would make one think that it's from a glitch. second track is from a hillier ride, but nearly 55 mph still seems unlikely for annadel. there's another peak on that graph in the low-30mph range which seems more likely, given the park. I can't personally think of any spot where 55mph is possible.
I'm not sure if this is common, but I'm quite new to the world of GPS. I haven't seen anything like that as of yet, but who knows....
I have an edge 305 and you do see occasional spikes off speed and elevation, just like was suggested you can easily spot them because of their obvious physically impossible accelerations (it is a "spike" after all ) the problem is that you can't spot that unless you are looking at the actual graph (not the summery tables). Don't let this little glitch dissuade you though, they are really worth having:thumbsup: .
BTW a bit OT but are the links working for you? I can't get Motion Based to come up
now that is just weird I have tried logging on to Motion Based from all three computers in my house and all don't work. FWIW it's the same way for Garmin's other site "Training Peaks". I've e-mailed Garmin's tech support line but haven't received a response yet. BTW my connection is fine every other site works that I've tried.
now I've contacted comcast (HSI provider) and Motion Based, both we friendly but no solution. Seems I'm somehow being miss routed along the way and:madman:
Yes it's very odd indeed, any of the three computers in my house can't access the web site though they all have different firewall and virus programs (that I have tried disabling on all three). I even loaded firefox and tied that. I need another local Boulderite with Comcast to tell me if they have an issue or not because it seems to be my unique problem at the moment(?). What make it even more interesting/perplexing is that if I put in the IP address for motion based I can get to the home page (but no further) but if I put in "www.motionbased.com" no go at all.
