I am looking for lite/ durable derail cables. Right now I am using stock Shimano...but I have a kink in the rear derail housing, so the shifting is poor. There is a hesitation after you rotate the shifter before the gear changes. Anyway...I used to use Gore, never had a problem, but I see that they are not available. What is the "hot lick" replacement? Are the "metal link" housing types any good?
I suggest you look at Avid Flak Jackets, which run about $20/set online. The housing is top quality, the cables are good, the ferrules are outstanding and it comes with a red liner you can use to make it into a semi-sealed system. Very reliable, very durable.
Use a dremel or sharp cutter on the housing, and remember to flare your ends on the internal housing liner (not the red one).
