Ive seen some Z1's with what looks like a maxle for their thru axle. Can these be purchased somewhere?? I run the 2004 Z150 FR SL with the qr20 dropouts but the actual ta is a bolt on. Not that big of a deal but a qr style would be much easier for trailside flat repairs and/or putting it in a car when needed.
right. I have to use two 5mm allen keys to screw/unscrew my axle once its unclamped. Since the clamps are qr20, using a "qr" axle too would make it a tool free change. Thats what Im going for.
um. its not going to be tool free unless you got the marzocchi fork with the wing type quick release clamps. You still have to tighten the axle to the fork.
edit: here's a picture of what i'm talking about with the dropouts
if your fork has the QR20+ axle flaps, then the addition of the QR20 skewer above would then mean tool free wheel removal (but if you are changing the wheel, is it really tool free?)
Yep, it is QR20+ that allows you to complete a fully tool-less wheel removal.
I use it and its been great forever..
Here is a pair of explanitory pics:
