That's probably a race-day only type of cassette. I had an Aluminum Real 8spd cassette (190g) and it lasted not more than a few months of regular use. Granted, it only cost $50, not $300.
From the Web page it looks they have already a number of ultralight teflon coated aluminum 9/10 road cassette at under $200, maybe the 9 speed cassette will be similarly priced ...
Worrying about cost? You guys don't sound like true weight weenies to me!
Just remember that is the UK (list) price. I don't know what the price is (will be) stateside. US bike stuff is expensive in the UK (the dollar is very low right now). Some example prices:
King Headset: $228
SRAM X.O. Rear Der.: $267
Fox TALAS RLC: $1067
So, keep that in mind. It likely won't cost nearly as much stateside. Besides, how much are those triple ti egg beaters again?
if you race an Alloy cassette and DONT MANGAED TO BEND the cogs then you should consider stopping racing. given serious wattage combined with occasional shifting under power they won't hold up. my 27T cassette had a broken 27T after 30 min. gladly i was just doing some intense training, not racing....
that is extremely expensive compare to Steinbach at 118 grams for 145 Eur, you can machine some area to get it down to 108 grams...like I did. Shift flawlessly, but durability could become an issue. Up to now I have not got any as it is fairly new.
Any actual users of cycle-dynamics? I've been waiting for an email response from them for a week now....Also, found some old posts regarding use of cogs w/out a carrier...may ruin your hub. Any comments?

I was dealing with paul. they were a little slow in getting back to me but they always responded and i got amazing service so i cant complain. as a matter of fact it was well worth any wait that occured
i think it is an awesome cassette and it shifts as well as anything from shimano or sram
i dont have alot of miles on it yet so i cant really say about longevity and damage to the free hub was a thought ...but if you think about it most cassettes have the first couple of cogs without a carrier and those dont damage anything so why would this?
I'm guessing much higher torque on the bigger cogs... search the posts and you can see some other comments about it. Just wondering -- what hub do you have this cassette on? Have you pulled off the cogs to take a peek? Maybe time will tell - would be interested in your long-term report.
thanks for the info. I'll keep trying to get a hold of them. I am more interested in replacing my XTR front chainrings that have worn way past their useful life anyway.
Been running an 11-34 Ti cassette of theirs for about a year. LOVE IT!! Shifts great, after a really wet and gritty LI winter (read lots of wet sand) no apparant wear. Only caveat here is that as they are ALL seperate cogs and spacers, aluminum hub carriers will get hammered by them. I ordered a Steel Drive Shell from Chris King and while it does add about 25g, its indestructible. I'm not a very accomplished Weight Weenie (as you can tell by my willingness to use a steel drive shell) but I do covet all that is Ti. By the way, communications with them were difficult at best, but they delivered what and when they said they would.

ive got a hayes/hugi 240 hub. i suspect that this free hub body may be slightly softer than others(i bought it used and it had some gouges on the splines to begin with so i wasnt overly concerned that the new cassette might damage the free hub i figured that i might have to replace it anyway) That being said, i dont thinke its going to be an issue...only time will tell.
The main reason why i went with this cassette was because i was able to change the gearing really easy. im currently running a 14-30
if youre really into it and you go the cash you should look into the cycle-dynamics or boone Ti chainrings ...aparently they last forever!
Paul got back to me. Thanks for the input. I can't say that I am ready to jump at the $159 price tag plus the worry about the hub body. I also just found out they don't make the middle ring replacement for XTR ( 112mm 4 bolt 34 tooth ) Crushed. Boone doesn't either. What gives. Seems like everyone who bought an XTR crankset a few years ago would need replacements....I guess I'll have to settle for a new granny ring. Thanks again.

Broke mine at the GRC last year.
In fact bend/broke the 4 bigger cogs.
