Go for the Scott. That Dirtjam pwns the MZ Comp. I'd live with Alivio components... just go to parktool.com and learn to tune your own stuff. It used to seem really hard but I can do it so easy now, it's no way worth the labor cost for having a deraileur tuneup...
Frame construction and fork is MUCH better. Alivio or Deore shifters, big deal, they're both low end. And all Shimano shifters/derailleurs use the same mechanisms, just different materials. Bars, stem, cranks, wheels are also better. Pro disc has slightly nicer brakes.
Hardrock is an entry-level recreational bike. The Voltage was designed with some sort of abuse in mind.
So why don't you think again?
As of now, I'm still working at a Specialized dealer too.
If it's actuaaly the Pro Disc that you're looking at, then the specs are way better. I currently have a Pro disc. It has SRAM X-7 shifters/deraileurs and Avid mechanical disc brakes. I love mine, it can do anything i want. Only bad part is the fork, as stated above.
Yes, the Konas are very solid frames. The drivetrain on the Kona isn't as good as the Scott. But you get some better parts too. It's a great platform to upgrade. Ride both the Scott and the Kona, see which you like better.

the pic of the HR is a pic of the 05', the 06' comes with single tracks, avid bb5's,and a x-7 rear derailler.you can buy an new 05' p.2 for a $100 cheaper than the pro disc
the Scott hands down, in my opinion every good bike should start with the best frame possible, and that'd be the Scott, very well built, burly and 4.1 pounds if not mistaken even if it did have *slightly* worse build, the frame is the key component to every bike and will be the main deciding factor in how your bike will ride / survive.
Specialized doesn't have any o5 p.bikes left in their warehouses, so unless your LBS has leftover inventory that they're clearing out... that deal doesn't apply.
