Thanks guys for all your awesome input on learning how to bunny hop. The ultimate BMX site really helped to brake it down for me.
After a few sessions and breaking down all the moves i can finally hop. Small I can get over a 2 x 4 and get on low curbs but its a start.
Advice for those learning:
Learn to do it with flat pedals. You'll understand the motion better
Analyze each step and think about what when and why you are doing it
Practice each move individually and then piece it together
Perfect form all the time 15 mins each day is better than one hour long session. When you get tired and sloppy stop. Building bad habits sucks.
foot and body positioning are key. I use less upper body and more finesse and perform consistently.
