I am looking for the best CO2 minimalist setup to bring on rides. I'd like a set up that I can use to repair a hole in the tire and plug and gill with CO2. And also if I burp my tire and just need to refill the tire to create a new seal on the trail. Today I burped my tire and was lucky enough to have a guy come along and he had a CO2 setup and filled my tire for me. I was going to buy the Lezyne blaster but that only works if you have a hole in your tire. So today that would have been useless. What is the most minimalist setup to do both.
I have a genuine innovations co2 pump. I've had it roughly a decade. After I moved away from featherlight tires, it's rare that I cut one so I choose to repair mine at home and just put in a tube. I haven't needed to do in a couple years. I would search XC racing and training section or ask there. They want their setups to be as light as possible and still functional.
"minimalist tire repair" sounds like recipe for a 10+ mile WALK home for me. a few extra ounces on your bike or in your pack is a lot lighter than a bike that does not roll because the tires don't hold air. if your first co2 fails to seal a tubeless tire, maybe the second one does. maybe it doesn't.
I carry a GI co2 inflator with at least one cartridge and a Lezyne pump strapped to my frame. I also carry a tube and some bacons. everything in but the pump fits in a space smaller than a soda can. I can strap it under my saddle. the pump is lashed to my seat tube with a TwoFish block and I forget it's even there until I need it, which is rare.
Yeah I went with Lezyne control drive and their tubeless repair kit.
