I have a few old judys xcand sl forks sitting in a box, gonna try to piece together one functional fork. They all seem to be 50mm travel. What weight, and how much oil did these use?
Anyone ever run a cartridge in each leg to improve the damping?
Finally, what are the color codes for the elastomers? I have clear, red, and black.
RockShox Judy manual from 1996 says RockShox fork oil can be 8 or 5 weight. I went with 5 when I rebuilt the cartridge in my XC. Can’t help you on the elastomers. The ones in my XC were red and were thrown in the trash the day I bought the bike new in 1996 (‘96 Stumpjumper M2 FS Comp). Converted to it to SpeedSprings coils immediately.
If you run the double damper let me know how it works out, I have been wanting to try that. Do you have the alloy cartridge bodies? the plastic will flex and leak again. Also if you do the x2 dampers why not run steel springs? -John Y.
