Hi all, I'm new to the site and requesting info. I picked up a Kuwahara Cascade from a thrift store and I'm having trouble determining the age. I've researched Kuwahara serial numbers, but it doesn't to match the format of any I'm seeing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
a picture from the drive side might help to id some of the components to narrow the age (on the assumption they're original). It's obviously had a few parts changed (v-brakes, fork, stem), but otherwise it looks (looks) late 80's-ish.
There should be a 2 letter date stamp on the front derailleur assuming it's OG. Most likely located on the inside facing chrome piece.
1st Letter = Year
2nd Letter = Month (A-Jan L-Dec)
CODE YEAR
A 1984
B 1985
C 1986
D 1987
E 1988
F 1989
G 1990
H 1991
I 1992
Thanks for the help guys, I think I've figured it out. I was confused because the serial number format didn't match anything I was seeing in my searches. On further inspection, it looks like there is an almost indecipherable 8 to the left of the 6 which I believe would make it an '86.
