    What do I need to rebuild my Revelation?

    I'm buying a frame/fork combo (2012 Stumpjumper Expert Evo) that has the RockShox Revelation RL. The seller doesn't know how long it's been since a rebuild so I intend to do one right away.

    Based on this I'm thinking I am the 2nd line of the second page, meaning 134ml of 5wt oil in the upper tube and 5ml of 15wt in the lower leg. By "drive side" does it mean the side of the bike that has your drivetrain or is it referring to the damper as like a "suspension driver"? How do I know whether I have "dual position air" or "solo air"? Looks like you only put oil in one leg of the fork but with Fox you do both.

    How does this process compare to Fox forks? I have rebuilt several Fox Float forks and it was pretty simple. Should I just use the RockShox branded 5wt and 15wt oils and get a seal kit?

    Well, that link is the 2014 info so don't use that. Find the 2012 since your fork is the 2012.

    And get the service manual, not the generic oil/coil info. All will be revealed to you in there. List of tools, list of location of the parts you are asking about.

    Drive side means drive side of the bike. Don't over think it. Dual position means travel adjust. Solo air means one air valve on 2012. Again, all will be revealed when you get the right 2012 service manual. It's easy once you get that.

    Ok. They're more straightforward than Fox then. Fox says "damper side", which is less clear. To most people its "left or right" or "drive or non-drive"

    Is there only one "2012 RockShox Revelation RL" or is there a dual and a solo version?

    dual position would be a solo air, travel adjust fork. You'd have a knob on your air spring side, that changes travel. You also would not have a negative air port on the bottom of the left stanchion.

    if you have a negative air chamber/port on the bottom of the left stanchion, your fork is a dual air.

    If you already have rebuilt fox forks and have fox oil laying around, you're fine to use it. I found experimenting with oil wt to really awaken the revelation. I'm ~190 geared up and 7.5wt or 10wt in the damper side made a big difference from the stock 5wt.

    The 134ml goes into the top of the driveside fork leg. That is your damper side.

    So even though it says 5wt and 15wt, I can use 10wt for both?

    I have Fox 10wt "green" and Float Fluid on hand.

    No, don't use the 10wt on the damper side. Use 5wt. You can use damn near anything in the lowers for semi-bath oil. Green is fine in there.

    Drive/non-drive side are more clear directions than left/right, which is why mechanics all around the world use those two directions, much like a sea captain says port and starboard.

    The RL just tells you what damper you have. The air spring is one side and can be dual air or solo air or travel adjust. The damper can get swapped in and out regardless of the spring side so just get the 2012 manual and it will show you all the details.

    Looks backwards to how fox works. The oil goes in the lowers with fox. Weird.

    So where it says 5ml of 15wt, I can use 10wt Fox branded stuff? I'll pick up some 5wt for the top. Any RockShox stuff will work I'm guessing? I see they make one specific to the Pike.

    And what about a seal kit? Any one that says Revelation?
