Upgrade the internals of my Rockshox Lyric R Solo Air?

So I just bought a 2012 Specialized Enduro Comp which comes with Rockshox Lyric R Solo Air. I really wanted a dual position front fork. The shop told me that the only way to do this was to buy a fork with dual postion at a discount and have it installed on the bike. I chose the Marzocchi 55 CR SWITCH TA 170/130mm which is going to cost me $700 extra.

My question is did I do the right thing? Could I not possibly buy internal parts for the stock Rockshox Lyric R Solo Air, and turn it into a Rockshox Lyric R Dual Positon Air with 160/130mm?

Where would I buy such a kit?

    Thanks for helping a noob.

You can buy a dual position air spring system and install it. It would need to be ordered from rock shox through a local shop. You may be able to find one on eBay though. Your local shop is either lazy or doesn't know suspension.

Yep you can change the fork yourself, although I have changed my Lyrik 2 step to a solo air and my wifes Talas to a float. We never used the travel adjust feature and they add more complication to the fork.

I agree on go to a different shop.
