I currently have a 185x52.5 rear shock. I found a good deal on a 185x50 replacement. I understand the 185x50 has a shorter stroke and will bottom out sooner. It is my understanding there is a 2.5mm taller bushing that limits the travel to 50mm. Do both shocks essentially perform the same through the first 50mm of travel? Some people said the bike will sit lower in the rear and bottom out more etc. If the shock is the same length with just lower travel, I didn't think the later statement is true.
The shock is a Fox DPX2 and I understand the taller bushing can be replaced, but you have to tear the shock down a bit. Thank you for any insight or clarification you can provide.
