    Shock not holding full air

I recently noticed my fox ctd shock is not holding the full amount of air I put in. It never leaks totally out of air. Maybe down 20psi. I set it at 260 for my size and it goes down to 240 psi in a short time. I bought a refurbish kit and serviced it. Any idea?

How do you measure the drop in pressure?

Do you mean when you reconnect the shock pump it reads lower? That happens because the pump will equalize with the shock pressure once it's attached (IOW the pump fills with air from the shock causing the pressure in the shock to drop).

Wow. Never knew that. So I guess I should go by feel. God info Jeremy thanks. Was thinking of buying a new shock. Save my money.

A decent trick is to put you pump on just enough that it makes an air seal but not far enough that it engages the valve. Then pump it up to the expected pressure before fully engaging the pump, that should give you a better reading. (Not all shock pumps will do this for you)

Note: When you pump up the shock, the pressure you read on the pump is the pressure in the shock. As you disconnect the hose from the shock, the valve in the shock closes before letting air escape so the air you hear escaping is from the hose and gauge, not the shock, and the shock stays at the pressure you had set.
    Do the math.
