    Service vs Rebuild

Whats the difference? Is there a time when a service is better than a rebuild?

Rebuilding is a more detailed servicing.

What does it do that's different? I've seen that service is just a seal and oil change for the most part

Depends on the product being serviced. For one the damper may be serviced in a "rebuild" but not in a service.

A rebuild is a service.. Theres not really an industry standard distinction for what gets done in a service.

You sort of have to just replace whats worn out, or getting worn out.

I tend to think of service as: changing oil, and might include a seal/wiper change.
Rebuild as: changing oil, seals/wipers, whatever o-rings and whatever else you can get in a "rebuild" kit.

Service is cleaning, changing oil, lubing bushings, internals, not really dealing with parts. A rebuild insinuates that there is new stuff, so new bushings (maybe), seals, wipers, foam oil thingers along with the service side.

People might use those terms interchangeably so never assume their definition. If you need that type of work, just ask what they plan to do and forgo trying to name it.

What's your usual interval for service or rebuild? Are you guys doing that annually or more frequently than that?

The manufacturer of your fork has a maintenance schedule. Follow that.
