My FOX Talas 36 front axle is impossible to take on/off - Any Ideas?

For some reason my FOX 20mm front axle on my TALAS is super hard to insert/remove for the last inch or so before it hits the threads. My QR bolts are plenty loose but my axle seems to have developed a slight ridge on the very edge of the wider part that I think is sticking on the right side thru axle.

Is it safe to very gently wet sand the sticky part of the axle with some super fine grit to bring it back to a smooth edge and see if it makes it easier to install and remove? It has slowly got to the point where I dread having to remove my front wheel which just isn't right. Any advice?

I find it hard to believe that buffing the axle down would be a problem, axle strength wise.

BUT, I wonder what caused the ridge - over-tightening pinch bolts?

Check the alignment of the fork dropouts. Your lowers might be slightly twisted (bent) making it tough to get the last part of the TA into the left leg. It doesn't take much...I speak from experience.
