What kind of price range do you have in mind? Would you want coil or air?

I don't know how anyone can answer such a question without such information as:

    -What type of frame
    -desired travel range
    -riding weight
    -riding style
    -terrain conditions

Saying "xc/am" means nothing. That could be anything from 80mm to 160mm, 9mm qr, or 20mm TA. Some 100mm in a2c height, on top of that. There's no such thing as "the best". There is "the best for your needs", needs, which we don't know.
