Fox Fork Vanilla to Float Cartridge Interchangability?

    Hey guys,

I have a 2004 Fox Vanilla R fork that is adjustable to 80, 100, or 125mm travel. The rebound adjuster rod is broken and there is some stiction from the bushing/seal where the cartridge rod goes into the damper tube.

There are several used cartridges on eBay, but they are all off of Float series forks. I know those use an air spring instead of a coil, but the cartridge is on the non-coil side of the fork. Can I drop a Float cartridge into my coil fork fairly easily?

If not, does anyone have a source for the rebound adjuster rod and damper tube end cap online?

    Thanks for any advice.

As long as the cartridge is for the same length fork, it'll fit and work.

You can exchange the damper side cartridges without any problems. Meaning put the R cart from Float to Vanilla or vice versa.

What you can't do is change the left spring side from Vanilla to Float (but it goes the other way). It won't hold air.
