Fox 36 Grip 2 vs. Rockshox Lyrik Ultimate 2.1.

Hi guys. In case you have ridden any or both of the above forks could you please let me know which one you prefer and why?

    Thank you in advance.

I like Grip, but I don't like Fit 4. I have not ridden a Lyric Ultimate, but I have ridden many of the previous versions of the Lyric as well as the Pike.

The Grip damper is the best, I run one with a Smashpot coil.

I think the small bump compliance is better on Rockshox (Pike or Lyrik) but other than that, they seem the same to me. I've never owned a Fox fork though, only demoed.

    It's all about the damper.

For all around riding I have my compression damping 100% open, this is on a tuned Bomber CR and a Bomber Z1 with a Smashpot coil. I will add a little compression damping in certain situations, really hard charging with fast and frequent hits, just to keep things from moving to fast, but I never use more than a 1/8 turn on my Z1 and 2-3 clicks on my CR

What I did not like about RS Dampers is they seem to be all or nothing, same issue with Fit4.

If I'm gonna throw a little damping into my shock or fork, I want it to be functional and tunable on the fly.

Since I currently have a Fox 36 Grip1 I wonder if it would make sense to move to a Grip 2 or Lyrik Ultimate? I am pretty sure there would be improvements but do they really justify the extra cost?

If you already have a Grip damper, you could just upgrade the damper to Grip2 without needing to buy a whole fork.

I am considering this but I wonder if it would make sense without the new air spring?

If you have EVOL there’s no difference in the air spring.

Unfortunately I don't have the EVOL version.
