    Fork Length vs travel

Most fork manufactures make one design in different travel lengths, such as Rock Shox Dart for example which is made in 80, 100, 120mm. Is this the same exact model with the only difference being how far the sanctions travel. Or is the 80mm Forks overall length (Form drop-outs to crown) 20mm shorter than the 100mm model?

The reson I ask is because my Frame is designed for a 80mm fork, and there is no point me putting on a 80mm Fork if it is the same length as the 100mm

    Thank you.

The axle-to-crown lengths are different based on travel.
    The Dart 80mm has axle-to-crown of 454mm, while the 100mm has 471mm.

See this link for a collection of various forks and axle-to-crown measurements.

    a 100mm dart is 20mm taller than a 80mm dart.

all forks are rated like that, they get full travel up the stanction, the difference is how long the fork is.
