    DHX fox spring too big?

ordered a 2.8x600 for my DHX and can't get the retainer peice back in, and yes the preload is dialed all the way back...is this normal? Any techniques to get it on? Its like .25in too long.

What stroke is your shock? Fox spring lengths reflect at what compression point they coil bind at. If it was a marzocchi shock and spring I'd say it was normal but not for a DHX.
    Bike good, work bad.

Some springs weights are very heavy and require an excessive length. These must be compressed with a spring-compressor to be installed, although you can probably short cut by putting it in a vice, compressing it, and using a billion zip ties. Usually it works out fine on the shock, unless you really did get the wrong size.
