Anyone know how to get the crush washer off from the base of the threads of this bolt on the Pike?

With a small sharp thing? The guy in the photo has the right idea. Unless it's leaking and you need to replace it, there's no need to remove it.

The black crush washer? Just grab it with pliers. And always replace them. They are designed to deform a bit so when you take one off, you are asking for leakage. It's not guaranteed to leak, but not worth the risk to save a dime. Manual says replace.

It appears that there is a little recess/gland that it sits in and the washer gets pressed flat into it so you can't get any purchase. The pokey thing sounds like the best bet, but I have a penchant for stabbing myself.

After about 5 hours of riding there doesn't appear to be any leakage from using the old one, but, normally, I'm with trailbildr in that I always replace them when I pull the lowers.

Just go Mythbusters on it and use some C4.
