New question here. Complete newb, front shock question

Hey guys, I have been searching and I can't seem to come up with an answer to my problem. I have a 2006 Giant Boulder SE. When I bunny-hop or jump down from something (basically anytime the front wheel leaves the ground), the fork extends quickly and slams against the top of the travel with a loud smack. Is this bad for it? If so, what needs to be adjusted to make it stop?

    Thanks for any help!

Here is a pic of the fork...

That is a very entry level bike MSRP $280, with a really cheap SR Suntor XTC Fork.

Rebound dampening is what prevents the fork from springing back too fast. I doubt this fork has rebound dampening adjustments, but look for it.

In any case I don't think this will hurt the fork, it is just what you get with a cheap fork.

Oh ok, thanks. Just don't want to tear anything up.

And I know what it costs, I bought it
