Anyone replaced a Fox Brain with a non brain shock?

I have a 2011 Specialized Expert 29er with Fox Brain setup. It's starting to leak and I was thinking about replacing it with a non-brain unit, something newer. Anyone done this? Any info on how to go about this?

    Thanks
    Tank

    Expert Stump or Epic?

We've replaced quite a few Brain units with standard rear shocks. Not much to it.

Yeah I swapped my Stumpy over to a Monarch. It was a huge improvement, and made it so I could rebuild the shock instead of sending it off.
