    2018 Fox 36 problem...

Hey all, I have a new Mach 5.5 with the Fox 36 fork. I purchased a 203mm rotor for the front along with the Shimano adapter. Bolted everything up properly (my stumpy has the same set up) and the pads only catch about 3/16 of the rotor, the caliper will not sit close enough to grab all the rotor like it should.

Something change, what am I missing??

Did you mount the adapter the right side up? Just checking.

Yep, sure did. Pretty hard to mess that up, has an arrow and "this side up" printed on it lol.

Shimano makes a bolt on adapter to correct the distance the caliper needs for the larger rotor.

Fox 36 has 180 mm post mounts. You might be using the 203 mm adapter for a 160 mm post mount. Make sure you have the correct adapter - Shimano F203P/PM Disc Brake Adaptor > Components > Brakes & Shifters > Brake Adapters | Jenson USA

if XTR brakes - Shimano XTR F203P/P Disc Brake Adaptor > Components > Brakes & Shifters > Brake Adapters | Jenson USA

The bolts heads and secure system are different in the MA90 than the normal MA adapter.

Shimano prices their xtr brakes higher than the same sized xt/slx brakes. Same for cranks, shift pods, etc. Why? Because of features and/or materials used. It's been this way for many years
