    06 Pike through axle question

If I purchase an 06 Pike with the through axle will I have to get a new hub? I have an 05 Kona Coiler with a KK Disc front hub.

If the front hub is a 20mm axle then you will not. If right now the fork is a bolt on or quick release then yes you will have to.

You'll need a new hub. It's worth it though. SOOOO much stiffer. And the Drop-Off Comp is a load of sh!t... Even after all my custom tuning work.

Any hub suggestions? As far as what kind and where to buy at a reasonable price?

Marzocchi 20mm hubs, best ones ever made.

AEBIKE.COM has them for $56. It's just as good as any $100+ hub...

Couple more questions. With all this through axle stuff being new to me, I am concerned about my fork mounted yakima car rack. I would assume when the through axle is removed, the fork will mount to the rack the same as a quick release fork. Correct me if I am wrong. Also, is it difficult to switch out hubs? Essentially, I would be rebuilding the wheel? Thanks in advance.
