XTR Clutch vs XX1 (chain drop question)

So. I am not really interested in the XX1 as I really don't care about the 11 Speed nor do I care I might have to shift in the front. However.... The only reason why an XX1 setup would interest me is the fact that no shifting up front is stated to not cause chain drop due to the teeth etc.

So the question I ask is. Does the new XTR Derailleur M986 for instance really help against chain drop?

I plan to do a 100 mile event soon and want a "reliable" bike. Before I slap down 8G's I though I would ask if anyone has had issues with an XTR chain drop or if the XX1 in regards to chain drop is only marketing and assuming others are worse.

The derailleur with the clutch will help but for the question u are asking u just need a narrow wide chain ring up front to prevent chain drop off the crank if your going 1x10.
Like a race face single ring here = Race Face
