    xt m770 shifter indicator help!

Guys I need help. I disassembled gear indicator on my xt right-hand shifter. I just want to assemble it back but I don't know how. The main problem is the spring that returns the mechanism in starting position. I don't know how to connect the damn thing to make it work. It looks fairly simple and someone who have done this before should easily know.

It might just be easier to buy a replacement indicator off of eBay. Last time I checked they were pretty cheap.

There's nothing wrong the indicators are designed to come off and be put back on a will.

The problem is you have to shift your shifter into same position as the indicator starts out, dont remember is its 1st or 10, I just take mine off and put the cover on.

Btw not a good idea to take tools to a shifter pod if you don't know how to deal with them. Cam easily trash a shifter.

I'm pretty sure the OP is aware that the indicators can be easily removed from the shifter pods. However, as shown in his picture, the indicator itself is clearly messed up -- you can see the wire spring hanging out (and it shouldn't be doing that).

For $20 max you can get a new indicator. That's the route I'd go if I'd already fiddled with it and couldn't get it back together right.

Thank you for your replies. I know that I can buy replacement indicator but since this one is pretty new(2 weeks old) I thought that it would be better if I can just spend 10min and assemble it back. Anyway, I managed to put the spring back somehow and it seems ok now. The needle is not going all the way to the left but it's barely noticeable. Cheers
