    SLX M660-10 bashguard?

Sorry I'm new take it easy one me. i spent a lot of time searching around and came up with nothing. i have the shimano slx M660-10 crankset on my bike and i want to ditch the outer ring for a bashguard as i never use the outer ring where i ride. what bashguards, if any, will fit on this crankset? I am extremely confused, as i heard one place that a guard will fit no problem, i also heard that the shimano guard will not work with the M660, only the M665, but i think that's when referring to the older M660-9 crankset?

    SLX M660-10 bashguard?

You should be OK with any 4 bolt 104 bcd bash guard. The shimano one (came on my M665) is super heavy.

awesome thanks. now I'm considering the race face 32t guard, but theres a standard one for 3-4mm chainring tabs, and a "fat tab" one for 4-5mm tabs. which one of those should i go for?

Yes, you're right that the M665 guard won't fit a 'standard' crankset without getting the file out as the M665 had a slightly shorter spider. However, any aftermarket 4-bolt 104 BCD guard should fit your cranks as they are designed for the standard length spider.

Great thanks! I've decided to go with the race face light 32t bashguard. should come in the mail tomorrow. heard a guy say you can remove the outer ring and install the bashguard without removing the crankset from the frame. Is this true?

Yes, that's right, you just need to undo the chainring bolts, take the big ring off and replace with the bashring.
