Shimano Zee with avid G2 rotor: poor performance?

I have recently purchased the Zee Brake-set with Ice-Tech metallic pads.
I'm still using my old Avid G2 CS 180mm rotors.

I assembled everything yesterday and today I spent some time trying to bed in the pads.

The rear brake is ok, but the front one somehow lacks power. I did follow the usual bed in technique, which seemed to work perfectly with my previous Avid brakes, but at this time, after about 5 miles of speeding up and then braking down, I still find the power of the front Zee to be a bit disappointing.

Don't get me works, but even if I squeeze the lever very very hard, I barely get to lift the rear wheel (whereas, with the old brakes, if I had done the same thing I would have face-planted on the concrete).

    Two questions for you guys

    1) Is this due to the fact that metallic pads require a much longer bed-in time? I only rode the bike for 5miles (testing the brakes hard though).

    2) Could it be due to a bad compatibility between Avid G2 Clean Sweep rotors and the Ice-Tech metallic pads?

    Cheers for any help

You might need to bleed the brake, when I got my Zee's I had the same issue with my rear and bleeding it fixed the issue.

Avid and Shimano can mix well. It's the bedding-in, pads, rotor shape and other factors that can make them feel incompatible.
