You basically got an awesome XT 1x system for less than 10% more than from SC with much better wheels, enjoy!

yea looks like a good deal to me, i dropped 5k between frame and wheels alone if you include the tax on the frame from the LBS.

I checked with my LBS first to see if they could come close and unfortunately the answer was no.

Yeah to build an XT 1x an LBS won't be the best deal. I was torn between XT 1x versus Eagle X01 and at the end I just ordered an X01 Bronson but building versus buying from SC the LBS was the best way to do it because of X01 Eagle pricing right now. Instead of ordering Enves I'm going to swap out the stock Raceface rims for some Nox Farlows and pocket the extra cash.

I'm actually trying to build up an alloy Tallboy right now. I could not come close to the value of the stock 3 or 4k builds even when I priced out parts online. I think 5.5 or 6k is where you start to be able to beat the stock builds..maybe. I'm also looking at doing Nox wheels. Maybe Derby or Knight.

I was pretty blown away what a difference they make in both weight and stiffness of ride. I'll never go back to Aluminum...

I just built a TB3 for my wife. I tried to mirror the X01 kit (pre-eagle) with the following differences.
    Pike RCT3 29"/27/5"+ at 130mm
Chinese carbon rims (30mm inner) with Hope Pro4 hubs and Sapim CX-Ray spokes.
XT M8000 brakes, shifter and rear derailleur (Sram XO1 cassette was used)
    Next 35mm turquoise handlebars
    Sram XX1 carbon crankset
Frame options comes with Kashima shock (which doesn't match the Pike!!)
Carbon rigid seatpost - no dropper

After all was said and done, I was between $5,000 and $5,500. It doesn't have a dropper post but overall, it's a much better build than the $6,300 builds and it was over a $1k cheaper. I think once you're at $5k, you're better off going custom. But if you're going with aluminum, you can take $1k off of that. I was fortunate that I found some great deals online while still supporting my LBS for the frame, hubs, wheel build labor, and a bunch of other smaller parts.
