    short travel horsethief 27.5+
I've been toying the idea of a new build but not sure how it may work. the idea is a mid travel, lightish weight, 27.5+ for XC use. to accomplish it I was thinking of a horsethief carbon but I don't like the idea of 120mm of fork travel or the slacker HT angle. Does anyone have experience with a horsethief and 90-110mm of fork travel. I'm not sure if that will throw off the geometry too much as the axle to crown measurement would probably be around 20-25mm shorter.

My primary concern would be even lower BB height on a bike I regularly get pedal strikes on with 29/2.4 tires and 120mm fork.

my train of thought may be wrong but the BB height may be similar to what I'm used to (spearfish) if you go by the BB drop measurement the spearfish is 45mm and the horsethief is 36mm, so about 10mm lower. the 20ish mm AC drop by using a shorter than spec'd fork would make them about the same.

I was thinking the exact same thing! I get lots of pedal strikes on my horse thief too!

There are probably other frames that would be better at 100mm travel 27.5+. What are you trying to accomplish by going 100mm on the Horsethief?

I don't think it will go great. I'm at 130mm up front on my mine and I think would 100mm would make the geometry strange and create a pedal striking machine. What don't you like about 120/130 up front?

I'd use it primarily for xc and xc race (SE Michigan) so short travel is perfered as the terain is relatively tame. I'm fond of salsa that's the only reason I'm looking at horsethief.

A short travel horsethief would be the spearfish.

I wanted a short travel pony ruster. So I picked up a bucksaw that I am going to make 27.5+.
