Salsa Timberjack GX or SLX - worth it?

Just about settled on a TJ but in between GX and SLX... LBS has sexy SLX Large frame but Im about 63-64 and think I might need an XL (I know, test ride it - which I will).

Or I can travel a little and get a GX (that shop has L and XL frames).

Is it worth the extra $$$?

Personally I don't think it is, the SLX come with a Judy and the GX comes with a RockShox, that alone for me is not worth the extra, the money you save can be put towards going tubeless, other bits you may want or save to upgrade later on down the line, perhaps a different crank and BB

$300 to save 2 pounds, but also with the SLX you get Shimano brakes and 4 more teeth on your cassette. GX is 11-42, SLX is 11-46. I dont know much about the forks, so I cant comment. Wheels appear to be identical. Are you an upgrader, or a buy it and ride it until sh!t breaks? most important is to get good fit. Im 6'2" and salsa large MTBs fit me perfect, although I think Im on the tall end of the large.

Personally I think the SLX is worth it. It comes with a much upgraded drivetrain. The GX really just has a GX derailleur. The SLX upgrades in the drivetrain, and brakes justify the price difference for me. The deore brakes are very solid. The Judy is the weak point on the SLX... but a good route to go would be to find a 34 or a pike while the Judy is still newish... buy it, sell the judy #profit. The SLX timberjack with a serious fork on it kicks some booty!
