    Salsa Juan Solo Questions

I'm considering adding another bike to my collection - another singlespeed, but this time with front suspension and disc brakes.

The Salsa Juan Solo caught my eye. Anyone have any comments about the EBB on this frame? Good or bad? Also, what's the widest tire that can fit in the rear? Will the 2.4 Mutano Raptors work?

I too have been eyeing a Juan Solo but I am looking at it for a scary light setup. It uses a Bushnell EBB which is supposed to be good. I have yet to hear any complaints about the setup. I think the official word for tire clearance is 2.3" actual but I"ll let someone else fill that in. A 2.4 Mutano is probably about 2.1" actual so theoretically it should fit just fine.

The BB is a standard Bushnell, which is pretty much the industry standard. No creaks or troubles here. As for tire size, I run 2" but I'll check the clearance later.

RaceFace Next low rise. It's turned left to right on the photo.

Juan Solo - go for it

I've only got about 100 miles on the frame I got (barely) used about 3 weeks ago but it's a great ride. I came off a Stumpy convert and it's not nearly as harsh, the handling is good and no creaks from the EBB. I'm running 2.1's in the rear - I think 2.3's would fit.

Sorry the picture isn't better. I'm running a Vanilla fork since I got a deal and I'm waiting on the rear disc upgrade then I'll be set.

    Wink Brakes upside down

Why are your brake levers upside down. Too lazy to bleed them mate? ;-)

    Beautiful build, Kelly fork??

Love the Marta SL's on the SS. Proves comitment.

Good spotting. Fork is Kelly yes. Good quality. Simple. Works! The SLs are very, very nice.

The bars were flipped when the photo was taken.. a riding buddy who's into motocross runs his frontbrake on the right, photo was taken before he took the bike for a ride and we didn't care to undo everything... Bars are back to normal now.

Should get photos of tire clearance soon.

This is my Kellycollection so far. 3 out of four Kellys in Norway.

The Orange has been through TransAlp, The Crocodile Trophy and LaRuta.

    Oh my.. Kellymebeautiful..

But what happened to your rear disc brake cable on the SS? It's like it's just hangin' in the wind waiting to get taken out by a Norwegian pine tree... To lazy to route your hoses, mate? ;-)

It has been fixed since the picture was taken. Now it is as smooth as a Jamaican bobsleigh run.

I see you are a firm believer in firm front ends. No front suspension - not even on the gearie?

If you wait until the 2005's come out it will have a Carbon set of seat stays in it... and that means left over 2004's cheaper! I have a catalog showing it....

    Just a thought...

Is there any place online showing the 2005's? My interest is picqued.

Very cool. Thanks for posting the pics. So for 2005, it looks like they changed the rear triangle and added some overall weight. I might have to start seriously looking.

Looking through the Interbike gallery, I found this shot of the new Juan Solo rear end.
