Salsa Chainring Protector on XT Crank?

anyone install this combo? 104mm 44t. it protects all 3 rings, and i'm wondering what is involved in the installation. do you need to use any spacers? Which ones and where? do you need to use Salsa's bolts? i'd like to buy one but the install scares me. I know nothing about how to do it. could someone who has installed this protector on a 2005 shimano xt crankset please walk me through the process???

I just installed a Salsa 44t, 4 bolt on my 2003 XT cranks. I had to use the Salsa bolts provided, and two of the three spacers they provided. Not in front of my bike, but I think I used the largest two spacer, which is just enough to allow the front derailler to shift to the largest chainring. Didn't have to adjust the front dr. It was a pretty easy install. I did have a hard time keeping the nut on the backside of the chainring from turning when tightening the bolt. Eventually bought the screwdriver-type tool to hold the nut in place to properly tighten the bolts.
