S&S retrofit on Ti La Cruz?

I have the opportunity to pick up a Ti La Cruz and I'm considering an S&S retrofit to make it the perfect travel bike. Would the tubing lend itself to retrofitting?
I have an older Litespeed Vortex where the tubing is not round and hence is not very suitable for S&S couplers.

    Likely a no-go

Official word from Salsa is that this is unlikely to work since the tubing is shaped, i.e. not perfectly round...

We had a customer asking about this for the Vaya - in addition to the tube not necessarily being round along it's entire length, the word was that it is not really good to take a ti tube that was engineered for a specific purpose, and then working it to put the coupler on - it would not only (obviously) void the warranty on a new bike, but could fail.
