    Pony/Horsethief Size Thread

This bike seems to run a little big, Even though Salsa recommended I ride a medium Bucksaw I went with the large and it fits perfect, is the same true for the Pony and HT? Im 5'11'' with 32inseam so im used to riding large bikes, the reach is really throwing me off though. Its way more than any large ive ever ridden, so I could run a medium with longer stem or large with short stem, which is probably what would happen.

I'm 6'1" with a 34" inseam and ended up going with an XL Pony Rustler because the XL Kona Process was such a good fit for me. However, the large would have fit me better. The reach is an issue that I have gotten around with a 50mm stem (I think it came stock with a 100 mm stem). However, I find the stand over is my biggest issue and that does hold me back a bit when negotiating steep terrain. This is a strange issue because the bottom bracket is so low. You have to be a bit more careful about strikes while at the same time, the stand over is too high. I'd error on going a smaller or try to do a test ride. Just my experience on the Pony Rustler.

Im 6'2" with 34" inseam and wear 34-35" arm length shirts and I've had several large Salsas that fit great, including my latest Salsa, a large 2016 Horsethief. On Santa Cruz, however, I'm an XL.

Large HT is a big bike. 6'2'' here with 34'' inseam and I ride a large. Slammed 60mm stem has reach about right but I'd suggest you look at a medium too. LOVE my bike btw, I went from 120mm pike initially up to 130 with no issues climbing steep stuff fwiw.

Also agree on low bb commissions with 650+ wheels though no issues running 29x2.3+
