New question here. Mukluk Seat-post: Straight or Set-back?

I am in the process of specifying a build of a Mukluk frame-set and tossing up whether to go with a Thomson Elite SP-E116 Black 31.6 mm x 410 mm straight set-post or the Thomson Elite SP-E116SB set-back seat-post.

Don't know if this makes a difference but will be fitting a Brooks saddle which has a limited adjustment fore and aft.

So the question is straight or set-back?

    Thanks
    Andrew

Mukluks are usually best fitted with a seatpost offering some setback.

Especially Brooks saddles are friends with a lot of setback, so you might want to consider something with more setback: Thomsons only have 11 mm. I have two layback Thomsons on my bikes and I really like them, but with a Brooks I might run out of adjustment range.

I think the real answer to this question depends on your body and the fit you're trying to achieve.

Ideally, you'd hold off on spending the money on the Thompson and have the shop let you try a few seatposts they have lying around the shop to see what you actually need. Or bum a few seatposts off your friends if you're doing the build yourself.

Yep, boils down more to fit for you than saddle brand or frame geo.

I tried putting a Brooks on my XL Muk with a Thompson Setback and it did not have enough adjustment. The rails on the Brooks are very short giving you little room to move the saddle back. I ended up going with a Selle Anatomica saddle which is just like the Brooks but with longer rails for better fitment options.
