Crankset: Will SLX FC-M670 triple directly replace FC-590 on El Mariachi?

Go buy the SLX FC-M670 crankset from eBay for $96 to replace the worn and damaged original FC-590 crankset?

My 2013 El Mariachi 3 (3x10) crankset is worn (purchased the bike used) and has a few missing teeth along with a fairly stretched out chain (3/8" stretch over 12" length of chain) that apparently may have worn the chainrings a bit.

I want to replace the crankset (because new chain rings would cost almost as much as a new crankset). The original crankset is a Shimano FC-590-10 (Deore 10 speed base level).

I plan to use FC-M670 (SLX level) 10 speed crankset to replace it. It uses the same (and comes with a new) SM-BB52 bottom bracket that came with the bike originally. Good plan? If not, what should I get instead?

Also new chain and new cassette (11-40t Sunrace)

    73mm shell.

I may go 2x11 one day, but for now want the same wide range and original-ish drivetrain.

Should be a drop-in replacement. You can see the details of each here:

If you don't want to go to 2x or 1x, looks like a good plan. What range is the current cassette? Make sure your derailleur can handle the range of the sunrace. The jockey wheels on your derailleur may also be worn, so check those if you haven't already.

I have already installed the new 11-40t cassette and the derailleur does work fine with the b-screw adjusted out a bit. But I will need a couple extra links on my new chain.
