I put in for a 2018 Beargrease carbon, was just wondering when I could find out what I am actually buying spec wise. Should be soon

I'd love to see the El Mar come back. Plus, I'd love to see Salsa not price themselves out of competition with other brands.

Agreed! A new El Mar would be great. Possibly with an actual XC geometry. I like the more trail oriented geo, but sometimes I want something more "racey." I am probably alone in that thought...

Well since we are "wish listing" - I'll put in my plug for an updated Blackborow über-expedition, go everywhere, fat bike.

A Timberjack we can actually get in the UK?

More sensible £ to $ pricing? Not all frames, a £2400 Pony Rustler isn't too bad, but a £1899 Woodsmoke frame is! Especially when the cheapest full build is $1999 USD I think.

New version of the Pony Rustler would be good, internal cable routing and longer stroke/metric shock.

An aluminium Warbird that can take 27.5x2.2ish as well. We have been using the NS RAG+ and it's great.

Warbird carbon frameset - see previous price post!

    X2

Titanium Blackborow to fit 2XL's on 100mm rims. I'd buy that straight away.

Rad. An excellent northern rockies (or anywhere where there's lots of snow and no grooming) winter expeditionary ride. I would buy one of those in a couple years once Ive gotten enough value from the Ventana El Gordo i built 2 years ago when I couldnt find a blackborrow to buy.

I love the external cable routing on my HT, just wish I could have a threaded BB..

It's my understanding that the Timberjack replaced the El Mariachi.

    whoa, super cool.

i'm a fan of stainless but seems like a weird choice for a bike like that. isn't it supposed to be heavier than chromoly, or weaker and therefore need more material (and therefore more weight) for the same strength? there's a 2015 vaya travel at my lbs that i sort of lust after...

Anyone have any info or even educated speculation on whether a 27.5”x4” FS bike is in the works? Something to compete with the Farley EX?

My educated speculation is that the Bucksaw is getting an update.

Mukluk and Beargrease updated to 27.5+ for 2018:

FYI - video interview of Kid Riemer on the QBP Facedork page says Salsa wont be releasing details of the rest of the 2018 line until September 8. Only Mukluk and Beargrease detalis now.

Good to know. Realistically I'm 12-15 months away from a new bike anyway, so a few days waiting to see what comes out in 2018 isn't going to be too bad for me.

I've been loving the 27.5 x 3.8 so much that I'm glad we are likely to see someone other than Trek offer it on a full suspension bike. Nothing against Trek, just no way to buy one locally.

they think they are super special with this mistery...

I am in the market for 29+, could some of the fan bois please tell me why one would choose Woodsmoke over Stache (cheaper, lifetime warranty, rides better, nicer frame...) or Fargo titanium over e.g. Why cycles Wayward (lifetime warranty, frame set with fork relatively cheaper with compared with what you get with fargo (rigid fork, 5 year warranty). No they are not diferrent bikes, you can run flat or jones on Fargo with no problem.

Is it just fanboism or are there other arguments?

    Cheers

    Thanks

Interesting the Cutthroat has a more affordable version now. Can anyone explain the difference, at least the purpose, between the Cutthroat and the Fargo?

I had really been hoping for something exciting with the Vaya as I'm in the middle of putting together a build blueprint. Look, it's ****ing nothing! Yay. Glad they're keeping the Fargo Ti frameset for this year.

I'm not sure whether to be puzzled by Salsa's recent decisions, or support their willingness to produce bikes for tiny sub-niches that hardly any other larger brand seems willing to touch. I guess a little of both.

Cutthroat = more race oriented. Carbon frame, designed for the Tour Divide (how they market it)

I don't know if the geo is much different, you'll have to check. I'd guess it's more aggressive too (Fargo is very relaxed with stem/bar height).

They already have. It's hard to imagine a made in China frame as a boutique brand. But Salsa thinks they are.

I think most of the "mainstream boutique" brand frames are made in China or Taiwan. (Yeti, Santa Cruz, Ibis, etc.) Not saying Salsa is a competitor to these brands, as Salsa seems to be making their own market. But the pricing is interesting to say the least.
